Chemical diffusion in a rectangular box

In 2007, I collaborated with Yen-Chen Huang in the Irvine Lab, on some simulations and asymptotic analyses of chemical diffusion in a cuboidal cell. The results were written up in this PDF document.


Simulation example

The above image was a typical simulation from this work, showing the concentration of a chemical which is initially localized on the left half of the cell base. This simulation was carried out using an ADI Crank–Nicholson scheme on a 900 × 45 rectangular grid. A QuickTime movie of this simulation is available.
