Cooking

We take food very seriously in my household! Tired of racking our brains trying to figure out what to make for dinner, we decided to start an archive of some of our favorite recipes online for easy access. It's still a little sparse since we just started adding recipes recently, but feel free to browse our archive here.

Favorite Restaurants

In Philly:

Tequilas (on yelp): Upscale Mexican. The molcajete de pollo is amazing. They don't take reservations on weekends, but I never mind waiting with a margarita at the bar.

Monk's Cafe (on yelp): Best burgers and mussels in town, along with an unbeatable selection of Belgian beer (I like the Flemish sour). The wait can be long -- I definitely wouldn't recommend showing up at dinner time on a Saturday -- but I think it's worth it.

Mama Palma's (on yelp): This was one of our favorite places to stop by on a weeknight when we were too tired to cook. People whine about the service, but I've never had a bad experience. Very yummy pizza and salad, BYO wine.

Alma de Cuba (on yelp): Really interesting and tasty Cuban food, excellent mojitos. A fun place to check out if you're visiting from out of town.

Pod (on yelp): Asian-fusion in a unique "futuristic" atmosphere. Definitely more fun at night. If you have a group of six, you can reserve your very own color-changing "pod" ...as long as you're willing to spring for the special family-style sharing menu. I say do it! I've only done this once, so it may have been a fluke, but it ended up being one of the best meals I've had in my life, with enough leftovers to eat for days.

Estia (on yelp): Upscale Greek. Arguably a little overpriced, but we've celebrated a couple of special occasions here and thoroughly enjoyed it. For an appetizer, I'm a big fan of the grilled calamari stuffed with Greek cheese.

In New York:

No. 28 (on yelp): My favorite pizza in New York, no contest. I first went here for a research group dinner while interning at Google, and I was instantly hooked. I've been back repeatedly and it has yet to disappoint me.

Eventually our wedding photos will be posted online for everyone to see. In the mean time, you can see a few of our photographer's favorites on his blog. We've also got a hundred or so of our own favorites up on Facebook, but you won't be able to see them without signing in.
