Scribe duties: You are serving three different purposes by scribing. (i) You are helping your classmates recap the lecture or catchup if they missed it. (ii) You are working on your writing skills, especially mathematical writing. (iii) You are helping madhu with ideas for future problem sets/exercises. Scribing has to be done in latex. If you don't know how to use latex, talk to your fellow students. It is easy to learn the basics, and very useful if you plan to write papers in the future. Below are your todos: 1. Sign up for scribing; Signup early! To pick a date, email madhu with your top three preferences among the available dates above and he will confirm one of these dates. Pick your date based on your other constraints and *not* based on topic. Topics may well change. If you decide to drop the course before your scribe date, inform madhu as soon as possible but no later than 24 hours before your scribe assignment. 2. Scribe fast! (a) Send a draft of the notes within 24 hours of the lecture to madhu. (NEW) This draft should include at least two suggestions for exercises or problems that tests the fellow students recollection/understanding of the lecture. (b) Send a more polished version later. For preparing the polished version, feel free to set up an appointment with madhu and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of your draft. (c) Your polished version will count towards your grade.
