Sumeeta Srinivasan is a Preceptor in Geospatial Methods at the
Department of Government and a Lecturer (Spring Term) in the School of Engineering and Applied
Sciences (SEAS) of Harvard University
a short distance down river Charles from MIT where she did her PhD. She is
also affiliated with the
China Project at the SEAS and the
Center for Geographic Analysis at
the Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences at Harvard.
Dr. Srinivasan's main research interest is in studying the interaction of transportation, land use and the environment. This includes air quality management through land use and transportation planning, urban growth and its management in developing and developed countries, applications of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), transportation planning, Information Technology (IT) and its effects on urban space in the developing and developed world. She has taught courses in GIS and its applications, transportation and quantitative methods in urban planning. In the past, she has worked with non-governmental organizations in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, India.
