CIRES (University of Colorado), through Global Monitoring Division (GMD) of NOAA/ESRL, submits 8 separate data files for the three instruments supported for the HIPPO campaign. For general information contact: James.W.Elkins@noaa.gov 303-497-6224 Fred.Moore@noaa.gov 303-497-7068 This ReadMe file is separated into three separate sections by "_#_______________________" . Section #1 connects each of the eight files with an instrument, a lab, and contact information. Section #2 identifies the species measured and the file structure within each of the eight files. Section #3 contains generic notes on the GMD HIPPO data set. This last section should be the only section that will change from time to time. Individual file headers may contain more detail. __#1 _________________________________________________________________________________________________ The three instruments and eight data files are; NWAS (NOAA Whole Air Sampler): ---- Is a Programmable Flask Package (PFP's). Water traps designed to maintain a low vapor pressure were incorporated for HIPPO-2 and later. No Isotope data will be submitted for HIPP0-1. HHIPPO-1 MAGICC files with NAN for CO2 may be available soon. #2 UCATS and PANTHER Electron Capture Detector GC data have water issues in HIPPO-1,-2, and -3 that affect the data at about the 1% level. PANTHER and UCATS are affected differently. Contact Fred Moore (303-497-7068) or James Elkins for further details. #3 UCATS O3 has an unresolved issue in going from wet to dry conditions (around 300 ppm H2O). #4 UCATS H2O has an inlet drying lag time in going to low values from wet conditions. #5 UCATS HIPPO-2 had instrument issues for both the GC, and the O3 measurements, data will be sparse. Contact Eric Hintsa (303-497-4888) for details. #6 UCATS GC and O3 were not available for HIPPO-3 as it was dedicated to the NASA GloPac mission. The MayComm water TDL was moved into PANTHER so the UCATSH2O data set will be available. #7 PANTHER Data Processing is time consuming and continues during the break between HIPPO-3 and HIPPO-4.
